Description
Our Therapeutic Recreation Internship Program offers students a comprehensive and engaging learning experience across a variety of healthcare settings, including Acute Care, Outpatient Rehabilitation, and Behavioral Health. Interns have the opportunity to work alongside experienced Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRSs) while serving diverse patient populations and developing the clinical skills necessary for professional practice.
This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded educational experience that promotes growth in assessment, treatment planning, intervention implementation, and outcome evaluation. Students gain hands-on experience applying the APIED process (Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation, and Documentation) in real-world clinical settings while participating as valued members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
The program meets all National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) internship requirements, including the required number of supervised internship hours and structured clinical experiences necessary for certification eligibility. Interns receive ongoing mentorship, professional development opportunities, and exposure to a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic recreation interventions.
