Registered Nurse (RN) Manager - Orthopaedics, Pain and Spine
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center - Lebanon, NH
The Nurse Manager provides leadership and operational oversight for the Orthopaedic / Center for Pain and Spine Clinics. This role administers an assigned nursing program or organizational unit with responsibility for planning, selecting, and/or devising the methods and policies/procedures to be used and for directing nursing supervisors and/or other personnel in the accomplishment of designated goals. The Nurse Manager negotiates interdepartmental resources, communicates and plans with managers of staff in other departments to ensure effective level of service to the unit/program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans adequate staffing and adjustments based on patient needs and staff skill mix.
- Evaluates performance of staff members, including coaching and performance management processes.
- Manages the hiring process.
- Maintains and supports evidence based practices in the clinical area. Assures compliance with national standards and initiatives, e.g., National Patient Safety Goals and The Joint Commission. Promotes individual/peer and departmental accountability to the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Goals.
- Develops the budget for personnel and non-personnel expenses. Makes unit based decisions to promote stewardship of resources. Encourages and supports process improvements which promote fiscal responsibility.
- Assumes responsibility for patient flow processes. Strategizes to improve efficiency and eliminate barriers that impact patient and family centered care.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) with 2 years of clinical experience and demonstrated leadership ability required.
- Masters of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Certification in a specialty preferred.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibilty.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
