Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine Director
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with New York City Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and New York City Health + Hospitals/Queens is seeking a full-time faculty as Director of Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine. The hospital is easily accessible by public transportation and car from all areas of New York City, New Jersey and Long Island.
The prospective candidate will provide leadership and oversight of Blood Bank operations at both Elmhurst and Queens hospitals. Responsibilities include ensuring patient safety and quality of blood bank operations; maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, including those of the AABB, New York State Department of Health, and College of American Pathologists; supervising laboratory operations, policies, and quality programs; and collaborating with hospital and laboratory leadership.
Candidates must have an MD or DO degree and be Board Certified in Clinical Pathology or Combined Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Board certification in Blood Banking transfusion medicine would be a plus, with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine; or American Board of Internal Medicine certification in Hematology with at least one year of training and/or experience in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine. S/He must also possess/or have ability to obtain a valid New York State License, Medicaid number and NY State CoQ in transfusion services and immunohematology. Experience overseeing Clinical Pathology operations and regulatory compliance is a plus.
We offer a faculty appointment with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai commensurate with credentials, experience and qualifications. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary leadership team working with a diverse patient population in a major clinical and training institution. Base compensation for this role is $307,610 and benefits include up to 10% employer retirement contribution, 403b and 457b retirement plans, 20 days of paid vacation, 30 paid sick days and 13 paid holidays, as well as optional health benefits.
