Child Development Service – Outreach Team
Pro rata remuneration package up to $157,360 p.a. (full-time equivalent) + benefits
The Opportunity
We’re seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Child Development Service Outreach team within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. This role provides clinical leadership and high-level expertise in a multidisciplinary, paediatric, early intervention allied health service.
You’ll deliver integrated and holistic assessment and management for children aged 0–8 with complex developmental needs, supporting families living in rural and remote communities across North Queensland. Key Responsibilities
As part of the Outreach team, you will:
- Deliver independent, high-level Occupational Therapy services including assessment, intervention, and case management
- Apply clinical judgement to complex caseloads using evidence-based practice
- Collaborate effectively within a transdisciplinary team and with families, health professionals, and researchers
- Monitor clinical outcomes and lead local quality improvement initiatives
- Provide supervision and performance support to less experienced clinicians
- Coordinate outreach clinics, including referral and caseload management

What You’ll Need
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy
- Registration with AHPRA
- Willingness to travel (road and air) to outreach sites, including overnight stays
- Strong leadership, clinical reasoning, and communication skills
- Commitment to family-centred, culturally safe, and evidence-based care
