Description
We are seeking an outstanding, highly motivated scientist to join the Mootha Laboratory in the Department of Molecular Biology of Massachusetts General Hospital, the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. The successful candidate will pursue an NIH-funded project focused on the mechanism of calcium signaling in mitochondria, using physicochemical, structural, and cellular approaches. The project will be pursued in close collaboration with a diverse group of scientists, including biochemists, physicians, structural biologists, and bioinformaticians.
This is a rare opportunity to be part of a dynamic and highly collaborative research team, while also affording the chance to co-author exciting fundamental and translational research publications.
Requirements
Job Requirements:
Ph.D. degree in biochemistry or a related field.
Strong background in chemistry, including physical chemistry.
Experience with protein expression, mutagenesis, and purification.
Hands-on experience with techniques of cell culture.
Experience in live cell microscopy or real-time imaging of calcium dynamics.
Familiarity with X-ray crystallography or cryo-EM is a plus, but not essential.
