Position Overview:
As a Faculty Development Specialist at Galen College of Nursing, you will be responsible for enhancing teaching effectiveness using a scholarly and supportive approach to develop educators at Galen College of Nursing. This position plays a vital role in providing local and institutional faculty development support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts regular observations of faculty teaching across delivery modalities (ground, virtual, and asynchronous), offering constructive guidance and actionable feedback to support teaching growth and effectiveness.
- Develops and advances faculty members’ instructional performance through targeted coaching, mentorship, and implementation of teaching best practices.
- In conjunction with and under the guidance of the Associate Directors of Faculty Development, develops assessment tools, analyzes data, presents findings, and makes evidence-based recommendations to support faculty development initiatives.
- Monitors and helps facilitate faculty development courses offered through the Teaching and Learning Academy (TLA).
- Collaborates with Associate Directors of Faculty Development to design and deliver workshops, trainings, learning communities, and resources aimed at building instructional capacity.
- Disseminates relevant literature and research related to adult learning, teaching strategies, and educational technologies to enhance curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Provides instructional coaching and support, leveraging tools and strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of TLA courses with a focus on evidence-based instructional practices.
- Coordinates and supports campus-based and college-wide faculty development opportunities and events.
- Builds collaborative relationships with campus faculty and leadership to align development efforts with instructional needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree in Education, Nursing Education, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Special Qualifications: Minimum of 1-2 years of full-time teaching experience; demonstrated experience in faculty mentoring, coaching, or professional development. Must exhibit flexibility, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills. Experience with Canvas or similar learning management systems required.
- Degree of Supervision: Minimal

- Demonstrated ability to provide meaningful instructional feedback
- Organizational and analytical abilities
- Comfort with educational technology and willingness to learn new tools
- Presence on campus required to support faculty development efforts locally
