Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is an executive leader responsible for the oversight, direction, and administration of all financial operations for the hospital. The role reports to the system-level Finance leadership with a dual reporting relationship to the Hospital President. The CFO ensures the organization’s financial integrity, safeguards assets, and provides strategic financial guidance aligned with the hospital’s mission, long-term objectives, and the broader Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CFO contributes to strategic planning, operational execution, and performance improvement initiatives across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct all hospital financial operations in alignment with system-wide policies and strategic priorities.
- Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets; ensure accurate forecasting, financial analysis, and cash management.
- Provide financial leadership to managers, directors, and physician leaders to support accountability and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities for revenue growth, cost optimization, and productivity improvement across the organization.
- Support development of new services and programs through financial modeling, demand forecasting, and cost-benefit analysis.
- Serve as the finance lead for contract negotiations related to physician services and other purchased services.
- Collaborate with leadership to support staffing, productivity management, and organization-wide performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with system functions such as Revenue Cycle, Accounting, Payroll, Decision Support, and Supply Chain.
- Represent the hospital at Board, medical staff, and community meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or CPA credential required.
- 5–8 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including management/supervisory responsibility.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with executives, operational leaders, clinical teams, and system partners.
- Advanced proficiency with financial systems and related tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior financial leadership experience in a hospital, academic medical center, or integrated health system.
Pay Range:
$261,100.00 USD – $287,500.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation may be determined based on several factors, that may include education, training, relevant experience, specialty, geography of work location, productivity, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include productivity and quality bonuses.
