Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine seek an outstanding physician leader to serve as Chief, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and direct the nationally recognized and highly advanced Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
The successful candidate will lead a large, mission-driven team of pediatric emergency medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, fellows, nurses, and interprofessional partners who deliver high-quality, family-centered emergency care across multiple clinical settings. Nationwide Children’s Hospital operates one of the busiest pediatric emergency care programs in the country, including a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, multiple emergency and urgent care locations, and a dedicated Psychiatric Crisis Department serving children and adolescents. The division plays a critical role in the hospital’s commitment to access, quality, safety, and timely care for children across central Ohio and beyond.
The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) is deeply engaged in academic excellence, education, and innovation. Faculty are nationally recognized leaders in clinical care, medical education, quality improvement, and research, including active participation in multicenter research networks. The Division is one of six lead nodes of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), has one of the largest PEM Fellowship programs in the country and one of only two ACGME approved joint PEM/Child Abuse fellowships, providing robust opportunities for scholarly activity, mentorship, and leadership development in partnership with The Ohio State University.

The Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health–funded free-standing pediatric research facilities in the United States, supporting basic, clinical, translational, and health services research. Faculty and fellows collaborate across multiple centers of excellence, including the Center for Innovation in Pediatric Practice and the Center for Population Health and Equity Research.

Requirements
Qualifications include board certification in Pediatric Emergency Medicine; a distinguished record of clinical excellence and academic accomplishment; demonstrated experience in leadership, operations, quality, and safety initiatives; and a strong commitment to education and mentorship of faculty, fellows, residents, and students. The successful candidate must be qualified for appointment at the Professor level. Collegiality, strategic vision, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment are essential characteristics of the division’s next leader.
